Church again

Went to church again this morning. This time it fucking sucked. They played bad christian rock for the first 15 minutes, then had a sermon about Saul.

Apparently this Saul guy was the first king of the Jews (or Hebrews?). The story as best I can gather is that there was a prophet or something named Samuel, who was sort of leading the Jews but was more of a Gandalf type, and the Jews basically wanted a king Aragon to win battles for them. So God, through Samuel, chooses Saul, who starts winning wars. During this time, Saul's the king of the Jews, Samuel's like the village prophet. Separation of church and state.

Samuel's been blessing the army before battles, but one day he's late. So Saul does it himself. God is displeased, and cans Saul as king. Lesson to be learned? Follow God's orders, details and everything. I'm sure there was more but at this point I left. Not sure if I'm going next week.
